I love oatmeal but after learning about the amount of added sugars in most pre-packaged oatmeal I decided to make my favorite cinnamon and apple oats at home.
This recipe is extremely flexible which is why it’s one of my personal favorites to share! Swap the fruit and the types of milk for a mix-up of flavors. Have fun with the recipe!
1 Cup rolled oats
2 Cups plant milk
2 Tbsp maple syrup
1 Tsp nutmeg
1 Tbsp cinnamon
1 Tsp allspice
1 Tbsp chia seeds
1 Small apple, chopped
In a pot with a little bit of vegan butter cook down 1/2 cup chopped apples until soft.
Add in oats and cook according to packaging (2 1/2 cups water or plant milk).
Add in spices.
As the oats thicken add chia seeds and 1/4 cup of water.
Let sit for 3 minutes before serving. Top oats with 1/2 chopped apples.
